Why copied old enclosure drawings cause confusion

Copying last month's drawing saves time in the office but often costs time on site. Dimensions, access routes and asset counts drift while the title block changes.

For a separate fictional workshop example, inspect the exported sheet, title block and key, or open the sample 1:100 PDF. Print that PDF at actual size (100%). These examples demonstrate the software; they are not site designs or evidence of compliance.

Common problems with copied layouts

  • Wrong airlock count for the actual room
  • NPU position that does not suit the new access
  • Scale mismatch when pasted into PowerPoint
  • Outdated symbology that new operatives cannot read
  • 3D briefing that does not match the 2D RAMS attachment

A better approach

Start from a template for similar room types, then adjust dimensions and assets for this job. Export fresh 2D and 3D visuals so every document in the pack matches.

Worked revision example: the access moves

Imagine reusing the illustrated room for a different doorway position. Changing the title block alone leaves the old equipment arrangement and any route pointing at the previous access. The drawing may still look tidy while describing a different job.

Start from the new measured information, update the relevant room or opening, and place the equipment according to the agreed design. Review the route endpoints, labels and key. Check the same change in 3D, then export both views again. This is a fictional editing exercise, not a proposed site arrangement.

Check the issued pack

Compare the drawing number and revision with the attachment referenced in the written document. Replace superseded exports in the pack and check the assembled PDF or printed sheet. A saved project template does not update an older downloaded drawing.

  • Room and opening dimensions agree with the current information.
  • Equipment names and routes agree with the current written description.
  • The drawing key contains the visible symbols and labels.
  • The final attachment carries the intended identification and revision.
