Build an editable drawing from a floorplan with Chat
Attach a saved floorplan page, confirm its scale, and describe the building or enclosure you need.
Why this can happen
Chat can read an explicitly attached image alongside your message. A page must be saved in your drawing, and its real-world size must be confirmed before image tracing.
What to do
- In a saved drawing, use Floorplan to upload a PDF, PNG, JPEG or WebP. Select and crop the relevant pages, then wait for Saved. Uploads require a paid plan.
- Set the image scale using a known measurement. In AsbestoPlan Chat, choose Attach floorplan, select the page and choose Done. If you sized it manually, confirm that its current size is correct. Full-image size includes margins.
- Ask Chat to build the named rooms, doors and windows. State wall height and construction where known. Without a confirmed scale, Chat can read labels and ask for calibration; it will not trace geometry.
- Use a blank storey for a new trace. Chat keeps the original image, creates shared walls and named rooms, and checks readable internal measurements. It asks about conflicting or unclear details rather than tracing over existing building geometry.
- If Detect walls already added outlines but floors or ceilings are missing, attach the page and ask Chat to complete the closed rooms with their printed names and inside dimensions. Alternatively use Floorplan → Review rooms. Missing closed outlines need wall junctions repaired or an explicit room outline; Chat will not silently fill gaps.
- Check the draft against the plan in 2D and 3D, including dimensions, door swings, window sills and assumptions. Undo AI changes reverses the request in one step. Enable Preview changes before applying if you prefer to inspect first.
- Continue with a request such as: Put a 2 m by 1.5 m inside timber enclosure, 2.1 m high, centred in the Kitchen, with inside blue polythene on walls, floor and ceiling. Specify access chambers and equipment positions when you need them.
Check before you continue
One page per message, up to 20 traced rooms and 60 openings. Image interpretation is an editable draft, not survey verification. Curved outlines, unclear scans, irregular-room enclosure placement and complex roofs need manual work. Rough sketches need explicit dimensions rather than relying on drawn proportions. Only the selected page is sent to the AI provider.
