Select, move and edit an object on a phone or tablet
Select first, move when needed, and open the Selected panel deliberately.
Why this can happen
Selection and editing are separate actions on touch devices so a panel does not interrupt an intended move.
What to do
- Use Select and tap the object once to select it.
- Move the selected item with the appropriate drag controls, or open Selected to enter precise values.
- Double-tap the item to open its properties. You can also use the Selected panel control directly.
- Tap blank canvas to clear the selection. Check the selected item’s name before changing its settings.
Check before you continue
A drag should not be treated as a double-tap. For dense drawings, zoom in to choose the intended object and use numeric fields for precise placement.
