Understanding room and wall measurements
Read internal room sizes, area and perimeter, distinguish them from the footprint, and choose which room measurements to display.

0:00Read the space inside the walls
Select the room and open Room measurements. Internal spans describe the clear space between inside wall faces. This room is two thousand three hundred and seventy-five by nine hundred and seventy-five millimetres inside. Its internal area is two point three two square metres. The internal perimeter measures all the way around the inside faces.

Above Room measurements, Width and Depth describe this polygon room’s bounding box. Floor area there is the polygon footprint: three point one two square metres in this example. Use the separately labelled internal area when you want the space inside the wall faces.
0:38Understand the wall measurement
Now select a wall. Position and size shows its length and height. This wall is two thousand six hundred millimetres long and two thousand four hundred high. Its endpoint-to-endpoint length is different from the clear internal room span. One thousand millimetres equals one metre.
0:54Include the wall thickness
Open Wall build-up to check the construction and thickness. This example uses solid brick at two hundred and twenty-five millimetres. Room measurements use the modelled wall thickness. Include any finishes you need to allow for in that thickness, and check that the drawing represents your intended dimensions.
1:12Hide measurements for this room
To simplify the plan, select the room and find Appearance and style. Choose Hide dimensions. The room and its name stay visible, while its automatic measurements disappear. Choose Dimensions hidden, show, to bring them back. This is a display choice; it does not resize the room.
